It uses transcription services to convert voice to text (similar to Jott.com), however, reQall and iPhone UI work together really well. (http://www.reqall.com/web/). Jott can do more in term of converting your voice into emails that can be sent to other, but I found that reQall.com on iPhone is a killer app for me. It’s a free service.

By Cheryl Costello-Forshey

The park bench was deserted as I sat down to read
Beneath the long, straggly branches of an old willow tree.
Disillusioned by life with good reason to frown,
For the world was intent on dragging me down.
And if that weren’t enough to ruin my day,
A young boy out of breath approached me, all tired from play.
He stood right before me with his head tilted down
And said with great excitement, “Look what I found!”

In his hand was a flower, and what a pitiful sight,
With its petals all worn - not enough rain, or too little light.
Wanting him to take his dead flower and go off to play,
I faked a small smile and then shifted away.
But instead of retreating he sat next to my side
And placed the flower to his nose
And declared with overacted surprise,
“It sure smells pretty and it’s beautiful, too.
That’s why I picked it; here, it’s for you.”

The weed before me was dying or dead.
Not vibrant of colors: orange, yellow or red.
But I knew I must take it, or he might never leave.
So I reached for the flower, and replied, “Just what I need.”

But instead of him placing the flower in my hand,
He held it mid-air without reason or plan.
It was then that I noticed for the very first time
That weed-toting boy could not see: he was blind.
I heard my voice quiver; tears shone in the sun
As I thanked him for picking the very best one.

You’re welcome,” he smiled, and then ran off to play,
Unaware of the impact he’d had on my day.
I sat there and wondered how he managed to see
A self-pitying woman beneath an old willow tree.
How did he know of my self-indulged plight?
Perhaps from his heart, he’d been blessed with true sight.

Through the eyes of a blind child, at last I could see
The problem was not with the world; the problem was me.
And for all of those times I myself had been blind,
I vowed to see the beauty in life,
And appreciate every second that’s mine.
And then I held that wilted flower up to my nose
And breathed in the fragrance of a beautiful rose
And smiled as I watched that young boy,
Another weed in his hand,
About to change the life of an unsuspecting old man.

How about with a total stranger? Bookcrossing project takes this to the next level, where you leave a good book for a stranger, for example, on a park bench, on the train, etc. By definition:

bookcrossing n. the practice of leaving a book in a public place to be picked up and read by others, who then do likewise.

If you want to find out what happened to the book after you have left it, you should register the book at www.bookcrossing.com, write down the BCID on the front cover directing the reader to post an update at www.bookcrossing.com. (Just a thought, can you do this with a dollar bill?)

There are at least several hundreds good Web 2.0 apps.
Here are the top 10 Web 2.0 samplers (note that many are still in ‘beta’). They are not ‘perfect’ but you can see the strong potential. One strength for these apps, most of them are designed to allow easy sharing and collaboration. Also, most of these give you free starter account.

Your career title is not who your are but it is what you do. I am not Jim Bird, Sales Manager it is only what I do for a livelihood. I am a Father, Husband, Grandfather, Friend and a Harley Rider. The day I discovered that my world changed dramatically. You can do well at your livelihood but the other things are most important. One great measure of success is the way your Son describes you when he is talking to a friend. Life needs to be enjoyed. We have to laugh and have fun.

If you use del.icio.us, you should tag religiously. What is ‘tag’? It’s a way to categorize your information so that you can easily look for it later. It is similar to categorizing but easier. For example, a Pad Thai recipe, you might tag it with tags like: recipe, thai, spicy, food. Later on you can search by any of the tag.
Some suggestions for good tagging:

Be consistent (meaning trying to use the same tag for similar items)

Use plenty of tags - tag extensively, general and specific

Use Plural or DON’T - be consistent

For documents, use unique and distinctive term

For bookmarks, use both general tags (for grouping) and specific tags (for searching)

2. Focus carefully - treat “auto focus” as more of an “instant focus”, make sure your subject is clearly in focus.
3. Three Golden rules: 1) Get up close –eliminate clutter by going as close to the subject as possible, 2) Use the sidelight and not flash; 3) Take lots of pictures.

Seven key fundamentals that is driving toward disruptive changes in technology:

1. Storage - The price is dropping and the size is increasing. Another trend is free on-line large storage (Google claims to give you ‘infinite’, its Gmail started out at 2GB and now it’s up to 2.7GB). Google is also planning on offering infinite drive once the bandwidth support it. Keep all your data on-line with Google.

2. Bandwidth - Again, the rate is going up and price is going down. For the first time DSL growth exceed Cable Broadband. The more broadband, the more connected we are.

3. Wireless - From EV-DO, EDGE, HSPDA, WiMax - not only ubiquitous access, but also very high speed. The price will be coming down in a few years.

1. Hold the camera still — use view-finder instead of LCD screen if possible (to minimize arms movement). Locked your elbows. Brace yourself against the wall (or tree).

1. Viruses — there are commercial (Norton, McAfee). Bonuses: if you have AOL, it includes for free McAfee Antivirus. Just make sure it’s loaded on your system. (On AOL, go to keyword: “Antivirus” and follow the instructions — note that you must have an AOL software and account).

Some key fundamentals that is driving toward disruptive changes in technology:

2. Forward messages from other accounts to Gmail for archive

3. Use Gmail as a catch-all accounts

4. Gmail with POP Mail reader (Outlook, Outlook Express, Apple Mail)

5. Use Gmail with Google Desktop Search or Google Sidebar

6. Store contacts on Gmail for easy search

7. Forward selected email messages from Gmail to your mobile phone

8. Star using Gmail, in case you decided to cancel your AOL account.

9. Use Gmail as information archiver (Ideas, Quotes, Recipe, etc.)

10. Use Gmail as on-line/remote disk drive (2.5 GB)

Note: the best of both world is to use Outlook and POP features to read/store Gmail locally as well.
